The CLB & DONDA Debate

Arguably Drake and Kanye West has been a number of rap fans go to for top notch music, regardless of the long looming beef which they have had these two rappers are icons of the Rap Genre. But this year has seen their beef go on to new heights with both Rappers dropping their long awaited album(s); Certified Lover Boy & DONDA . After the whole Push back from Kanye and Drake, Kanye dropped DONDA on August 29th which had fans all hyped which saw the album soar through streaming platforms regardless of people criticizing Donda for not living up to the hype Kanye West built it up to be, Donda generally is a good album which is enjoyable but still not Kanye’s with mainly Features helping the album leave up to his expectations. Drake replied suit in dropping Certified Lover Boy on September 3rd which left fans hyped. This right here is VibeHub's unbiased rankings and ratings of both albums and ending the debate about which is better;

BEST FEATURES

i. Fivio Foreign;

       Fivio dropped the hardest bars of his entire career on the track Off the Grid, which has received lost of accolades from fans of the album. Fivio also did pretty well on  the track Ok Ok but Kanye couldn't  back it up with more greatness.

ii. Don Toliver;

        Don disappoint  in delivering high quality vocals in the track Moon but it was disappointing that Kanye didn't follow the greatness Don Toliver has done with more greatness.

iii. The Weekend & Lil Baby;

           We would like to see more music from these duo because everyone that enjoyed the album Donda will argue that the track Hurricane is undoubtedly the best in the album. And again Kanye didn't back it up with more greatness and the features ended up carrying the song.

WORST FEATURE(S)

i. Playboi Carti;

       We had to add this category, because Carti was downright horrible on this album, he wasn't needed on the song Off the Grid and almost made the song average but Fivio had to pop off and make the song and make it special and he was also bad in the song Junya.

        After stating the above facts, our final ratings for the album is "7.0", most tracks on DONDA are surely likeable and worth playing any where but we feel it dived out of what a gospel album really is and that has hugely affected the ratings of the album from critics worldwide and has also received tons of criticisms from it. This album also lacked spark from Kanye because it seemed likely that features from a couple artists made the album likeable and not Kanye which is disappointing and Kanye only had his moments on the tracks Believe what I say & Jail.

 

     VibeHub's review of Drake's Certified Lover Boy (CLB);

BEST SONGS:

    This category was really a tough one for us to pick because every song on the album was miles away from your average R&B Drake song. But regardless here are the ones that got most fans excited and they are ranked in no particular order;

i. 7am on Bridle Path

ii. Champagne Poetry

iii. Girls want Girls ft. Lil Baby

iv. Pipe Down

v. TSU  

WORST SONGS:

       This was also a tough one for us to pick, so these songs here are the songs that were average;

i. N2 Deep

ii. Fountains ft Tems; for an afro-beats song Drake way below average compared to One Dance which had more waves. Tems didn't disappoint fans in making the track likeable with her smooth melody and vocals.

BEST FEATURES:

i. Kid Cudi on the track IMY2; Fans were hyped to finally see a Cudi & Drake collaboration after waiting for so long and  trust us when we say that this would have been in our best songs category but regardless this song gave us everything we expected from Drake & Kid Cudi.

ii. Lil Baby on Girls want Girls; without a doubt this song was the best of the album CLB, the dynamics of a Drake and Lil Baby song goes without borders. Drake and Lil Baby have always been the greatest collabs ever and this song didn't lower our expectations of that adding to the list of numbers done by both rappers.

iii. 21 Savage on Knife Talk

iv. Tems on Fountains;   not withstanding the fact that this particular track was in our worst songs category it still doesn't expel the fact that Tems was indeed great on the song. 

v. Lil Durk & Giveon on In the Bible.

 

            Stating the facts detailed above the final ratings of the album CLB  is 8.5, Drake did put quality into this album than what most people think. The songs on the album are almost unskippable and have in depth lyrics, most came to see a super track album like Scorpion but Drake kept to what Certified Lover Boy stands for delivering R & B tracks and that is the quality of the album we mostly speak of. Drake also delved into different depths we've never seen on this album, songs like IMY2 with Kid Cudi were a different sound. With the following criteria met from both albums and both of them properly ranked and rated we can safely say that Certified Lover Boy is a better album than DONDA.
